Dental Bridges

Do missing teeth cause embarrassment when you smile and discomfort when you chew? With convenient options offered at our Murrieta dental office, we can help restore your smile to its full function and beauty.

Dr. Prais’ first choice for tooth replacement is dental implants, but when implants are not an option, bridges can be a great solution for replacing a missing tooth or teeth. We want your smile to be the best it can be with whole, healthy teeth that enhance your appearance. Our goal is to work with you to find the treatment that restores your smile quickly and affordably.

Why Do I Need a Dental Bridge?

Missing teeth are not just an aesthetic problem. Your teeth are designed to make it possible for you to chew and speak properly. When you have a missing tooth, these basic functions become difficult and uncomfortable.

Missing teeth can also lead to other problems that have an impact on your oral health. When a tooth is missing, surrounding teeth can start to shift and move into the empty space, affecting the alignment of the rest of your teeth.

As this movement occurs, your bite may also be affected. An imbalanced dental bite is a problem that is not only complicated and expensive to fix, but can eventually damage your remaining teeth.

He and his practice have my highest recommendation.

I used to work as a dental hygienist with Dr. Prais before he had his own practice. In my career I worked with and knew of many dentists. Even though it is a bit of a drive for me to see Dr. Prais, I have chosen him to trust with my own personal dental needs. He does high quality work using the latest techniques and equipment. He is fair, honest, and kind. His office is very clean, welcoming, and comfortable. Dr. Prais and all of his staff are competent, friendly, and professional. He and his practice have my highest recommendation.

How Does a Dental Bridge Work?

We use dental bridges to fill the empty space left by a missing tooth. A bridge is made using an artificial tooth anchored in place by dental crowns attached to adjacent teeth. For added stability, a dental implant can also be used. The implant anchors the artificial tooth and also eliminates the sunken appearance at the gumline.

A fixed dental bridge can usually be placed in just two appointments. First, Dr. Prais prepares the neighboring teeth to make sure that the crowns will fit perfectly. We then take dental impressions that are sent to our dental lab where the permanent bridge is created.

During the second visit, we will adjust the permanent bridge to make sure that it fits perfectly and aligns with your dental bite. Finally, the bridge is cemented in place. Proper oral hygiene and regular professional cleanings will help keep your bridge in good condition for many years.

Will My New Bridge Match My Own Teeth?

We design bridges to look as natural as possible and allow you to regain the function lost from missing a tooth or teeth. We use the latest in dental materials that allow us to create a custom bridge that looks beautifully natural and perfectly matches your own teeth.
